Goins came in at the last minute to replace Brain Laird from the team Chiba Lotte of the Japanese League since he didn’t receive permission from his team to participate in the tournament due to the high price of the insurance, Mexico will begin its participation on July 30 against the Dominican Republic.

Mexican journalist Roberto Espinoza reported that Laird will not be part of the Mexican National Team because the Chiba Lotte Marins, a team in which he plays in Japan, requested a very high cost insurance, Laird has been considered for other events such as the World Baseball Classic.

The final roster of Mexico is made up of 24 players who play in both Mexican leagues such as the LMB, and in the United States Minor Leagues (MiLB); and they are headed by Benjamín Gil as manager who has experience in the Mexican Pacific League and the Mexican Summer League as helmsman.

Ryan Goins plays the second baseman and shortstop positions, he is currently in the Atlanta Braves organization in their Triple A branch, where he awaits the call to the Major Leagues.

He has played in the Major Leagues (MLB) for the Toronto Blue Jays, Kansas City Royals and Chicago White Sox. With the Blue Jays, from 2014 to 2017 he had his best seasons, averaging .230 lifetime, 22 home runs and 158 RBIs.
