  • Donald Trump suggested that the FBI and the Justice Department may be “involved” in alleged electoral fraud against him.
  • Both bodies are led by officials elected by the president
  • “This is total fraud,” Trump insisted in an interview on Sunday Morning Futures.

President Donald Trump suggested in an interview that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Department of Justice could be “involved” in an alleged manipulation of the presidential elections against him, reported Newsweek.

The president’s comments do not have evidence to support these claims about the alleged widespread fraud, however, they have contributed to delaying the process of transition of power to President-elect Joe Biden.

In an interview given to Fox Business, the first extended since the elections, the leader indicated that the elections had been “rigged.”

“This is a total fraud,” Trump insisted in an interview with journalist Maria Bartiromo on Sunday morning on the Sunday Morning Futures program. “And how the FBI and the Department of Justice, I don’t know, maybe they are involved, but how people are allowed to get away from these things is incredible,” Trump added.

Both the FBI and the Department of Justice are run by officials elected by the president.

“Missing in action. Missing in action, ”Trump said when asked by the FOX Business reporter if the FBI and the Justice Department are investigating the fraud allegations. “I can’t tell you where they are. I ask them, ‘Are you looking at it?’ Everybody says, ‘Yeah,’ they’re looking at it, ”Trump said.

The president also said Sunday that he was “embarrassed” for backing the Republican governor of Georgia after losing in the state to Democrat Joe Biden, according to the AP.

Trump said on Fox News that Governor Brian Kemp “has done absolutely nothing” to question the state’s results. Trump has made unsubstantiated allegations that illegal votes cost him elections in Georgia and beyond. His legal challenges have failed in several states.
