With the opening of her bookstore, The Little Book Spot, educator, author and entrepreneur Nury Castillo Crawford makes another of her dreams come true. She also solidifies her role as a promoter of culture and literature, not only in Spanish speakers but also for bilingual and multilingual people in Georgia.

Castillo Crawford opened The Little Book Spot on April 30 — on National Independent Bookstore Day — with the participation of Verónica Maldonado Torres, president of the Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Martha Alanís, author of the bilingual children’s book, I am American. I am Mexican. I am Me.

“I am very excited about the opening of our bookstore, whose vision is to provide literacy resources as diverse as our community. We offer bilingual books in a variety of languages ​​such as English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Korean, Italian and French,” said the entrepreneur and author.

The Little Book Spot, located inside the Plaza Las Américas shopping center in Lilburn, Georgia, offers a wide variety of children’s literature, including books published by Castillo Crawford such as 3,585 Miles to Be an American Girl and Sofia and Vivi: A Bilingual Children’s Book: Big Sister.

A space for children

The owner of the new bookstore said that she will have guest authors every month to promote their books, read excerpts to visiting children and sign autographs.

“The children to whom I read my book that day were very excited to meet Martina, the protagonist girl, who was born in the United States and lives for a year in Monterrey, Mexico and then returns to the country. It is a very beautiful story that deals with the beauty of living in two countries,” Alanís said.
