Fabián René Arredondo was arrested in Texas on charges of shooting his own sister in the middle of a family dispute.
Arredondo, 25, was detained by agents of the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) and taken to the Bexar County Jail.
The arrest warrant against Arredondo, consulted by MundoHispánico in Texas, details that the man faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
The incident that led Arredondo to jail began last Wednesday, September 16, 2020 when a woman called the SAPD emergency number to report that she was wounded by gunshots.
The SAPD patrols appeared at 1300 Mission Grande Street, in the southern San Antonio metropolitan area, from where the woman called to report the shooting, and about to faint.
In her testimony, the 30-year-old woman told authorities that she had had a family altercation with her brother Fabián and that the furious boy had pulled out a gun and fired several shots at him.
The SAPD patrols then called the agents of the SAPD Family Crimes Division who took over the investigation.
After the woman gave her statement, the agents found that Fabián René Arredondo, the brother of the injured woman, had already been detained previously for various violent crimes.
On Thursday, September 17, Fabián René Arredondo entered the list of the most wanted criminals in San Antonio for the crime of aggravated assault with a moral weapon against his older sister.
According to the arrest warrant that the SAPD issued against Arredondo, the man was considered dangerous, armed and volatile in character with a tendency to violence for no reason.
Agents from the Family Crimes Division tracked Fabián Arredondo’s footsteps for several days until at dawn on Friday, September 25, a confidential informant revealed to them where the boy was hiding.
Arredondo was detained without incident and is already in the county jail awaiting the first hearing in his legal process. According to Texas State Penal Code the charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon faces a sentence of 2 to 20 years in prison for anyone found guilty of that crime.
These have been busy days for the SAPD with several shootings in the city in recent weeks.
The Homicide Division of the SAPD arrested three young men for their alleged responsibility in the murder of Miguel Carvajal Jr., 20, who died of several gunshots on Tuesday, September 22, 2020, in western San Antonio.
According to SAPD, Carvajal Jr. was a minority drug dealer when he arranged a meeting outside a CVS pharmacy, at 9800 Potranco Road, with three young men to whom he was going to sell drugs.
The three boys arrived at the meeting place and instead of making the drug transaction, they took out several pistols and shot Carvajal Jr. in the head and chest, who died at the scene.
Some witnesses detailed to the authorities that after the shooting the three men opened their victim’s car and took some things with them.
The SAPD authorities were able to determine that the three men took Carvajal Jr.’s money, drugs and gun after they shot him.
In their investigation, the agents of the Homicide Division determined that everything had been a calculated plan not to make the sale of drugs but to steal his merchandise from Carvajal Jr..
Based on the telephone records of the victim’s calls, the agents were able to determine the identity of the three alleged thieves and murderers. According to the forensic expert reports, one of the robbers was injured as the Hispanic boy reached for his gun and fired a shot.
In the early hours of Wednesday, an African American boy arrived at the emergency room of a San Antonio hospital, wounded by a gunshot. The young man was unable to give a coherent statement to the doctors of how he had been shot.
The hospital authorities requested the presence of SAPD agents who, after questioning the young man, discovered that his gunshot wound coincided with that of the weapon carried by Carvajal Jr.
The boy arrived at the hospital transported in a someone by two other young people and, thanks to the videos of the security cameras, the agents were able to identify the car in which the three boys arrived and that coincided with the shooting in which Carvajal Jr died .
Aviar Smith, 18: Roger Koontz, 19, and Trevon Chaney, 18, were taken into custody by the SAPD Homicide Division and are already in the Bexar County jail on a single capital murder charge. A crime punishable in Texas by the death penalty.
