In a candid interview with journalist Eden Dorantes, Maribel Fernández confirmed the tragic passing of her brother-in-law due to Hurricane Otis.

«My brother-in-law passed away in Acapulco, where he lived with his new wife. He died from shock,» the renowned actress disclosed during the interview.

In her statements, she emphasized the sudden nature of his death, which came as a shock to the family. It was her sister who relayed the heartbreaking news to her.

«He suffered a cardiac arrest. When my sister, the mother of my nieces, called me to tell me, she was at a loss for words,» she further added.

Fernández, affectionately known as ‘La Pelangocha’, pointed out that the tragic incident occurred while her brother-in-law was at his home.

«‘How did Jorge die? It just can’t be.’ He was an engineer. He was at his house. He died from the shock of what happened,» she confirmed.

She also stressed that the situation in Acapulco is even more serious than what is depicted by the media, and experiencing it personally adds an additional layer of shock.

«It’s one thing to see it on television, my dear, and another to live through it,» she said in an interview with Dorantes, after sharing her heartfelt emotions.

Actress ‘La Pelangocha’ didn’t just share her own grief; she also used her influence to appeal for unity and support.

As reported by EFE news agency, the Mexican Government has revised the death toll to 46 and the number of missing persons to 58 in the state of Guerrero.

Authorities initially reported various death tolls on Monday, including 45 and 48, but Guerrero’s governor, Evelyn Salgado, has confirmed 46 fatalities.

Meanwhile, the Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE) reported that 25% of the over half a million customers who lost power are still without electricity.
