Bernard Shaw was part of the 1980 launch of what has become one of the most recognized news networks in the United States, CNN. He retired on February 28, 2001 after more than 20 years of service with the channel.

According to CNN, the former anchor died of pneumonia that was not related to Covid-19. “Even after he left CNN, Bernie remained a close member of our CNN family,” said Chris Licht, the news network’s president and CEO.

According to the Licht, Bernard Shaw continued to «provide our viewers with context on historical events as recently as last year.» The former anchor reported some of the most important events that marked the course of history.
