According to IMDB, Carmen Salinas Lozano was born on October 5, 1939, in Torreón, Coahuila, Mexico.

Few know that her parents, Jorge Salinas and Carmen Lozano, lost five children due to different illnesses.

From a very young age, she had dreams of performing because her sister Josefina sang on a radio station.

At 10, she began to sing and imitate voices on a radio program in Monterrey, Nuevo León.

When she was just over 14 years old, film producer Carlos Amador discovered Carmen Salinas and took her to Mexico City. It was 1953.

A few weeks later, she made her debut as an actress. At the age of 17, she married musician Pedro Plascencia, the father of her only two children.

Her television debut came in 1964 in the soap opera La Vecindad, while her first film was La Vida Inútil de Pito Pérez.

She is mainly remembered for appearing in cine de ficheras, or sex comedies, a genre that was very successful in the seventies and eighties.

Carmen Salinas successfully produced the stage play Aventurera, based on the film of the same name.

She was an outstanding impersonator but decided to stop doing it after the death of her son Pedro Plascencia Salinas from lung cancer.

From 2015 to 2018, she ventured into politics. She was a representative of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) in the Chamber of Deputies.

While she was filming the soap opera Mi Fortuna es Amarte on Televisa, she suffered a cerebral hemorrhage that would eventually lead to a coma.

After being hospitalized for a month, Carmen Salinas passed away on December 9, 2021, at the age of 82.

It was reported that her body would be cremated, and her ashes would be placed in her family mausoleum at the Panteón Español in Mexico City.

Shortly afterward, it was confirmed that the actress died from a heart attack after a drop in blood pressure.

Additionally, she had difficulty breathing. If she had survived, she would have had to undergo a long rehabilitation.

According to El Financiero, Carmen Salinas’s daughter shared more details about her famous mother’s death.

«I called her and said, ‘Beautiful mommy, I know you have to leave. Don’t worry about any of us. You will go in peace with my little brother,'» she said.

It is worth noting that Carmelita’s family hoped for a miracle, as she had shown signs of improvement.

«My mom never talked about death; she always wanted to live even though she didn’t have my brother, my uncle Chato, her parents, my grandparents,» she concluded.
