On Monday, April 18, the fast food chain based in Irvine, California, announced that it will relaunch the Mexican pizza which it had removed in September 2020 in an attempt to streamline operations because of the pandemic.

It is no secret to anyone that many restaurants have been forced to cut their menus and Taco Bell was one of them. But the truth is that what was initially a strategic decision ended up generating a numerous complaints simply because fans wanted their beloved Mexican pizza back.
Since then, Mexican Pizza supporters have put pressure on the company, including through a petition they created on Change.org. They managed to collect more than 200,000 signatures from people who just wanted to see their favorite dish back on the menu.

Almost two years later, the pressure campaign has paid off. In fact, the restaurant confirmed that this is a permanent decision and they have prepared a relaunch campaign that says “YOU BROUGHT BACK THE MEXICAN PIZZA.”
Mark King, who is CEO of Taco Bell, said in a statement that “Mexican Pizza has a long history with the brand and I am pleased to be able to give fans what they crave and bring our classic Mexican pizza back home where it belongs.”
When will you be able to buy a Mexican pizza?
We already know that Taco Bell will sell the Mexican Pizza again, but WHEN?! The company announced that the dish will be on the menu again starting on May 19. Although if you are one of those loyal customers who can’t wait any longer to indulge, then you can order your Mexican pizza starting May 17 through the restaurant’s app.
“Our menu is full of fan favorites, but Mexican pizza is at the top of that list. From its flashy introduction to menus in 1985 as ‘Pizzazz Pizza’ to its inspiration behind the creation of infamous jingles, Mexican Pizza has a long history with the brand,” King added in the statement.
A Mexican Pizza is $4.49
Nothing more than a crispy taco crust, refried beans, a layer of beef, pizza sauce, cheese and tomatoes, this hearty dish will be available for $4.49. That’s just 60 cents more than it used to cost when it first came on the market, noted Forbes.
The Mexican Pizza can also be ordered in a vegetarian version, which is an exciting development for those on a plant-based diet.
