With the fourth stimulus checks still far from being realized, even as the effects of the pandemic remain and fears of the contagious Omicron variant grow, some states have made the decision to issue their own stimulus checks in December.

In the absence of stimulus programs at the federal level, states such as Maine, California, Maryland, and Florida chose to send their citizens stimulus checks in November and December, ranging from $285 to $1,100 for eligible families or individuals.

Who will receive the stimulus checks?

In Maine, Gov. Janet Millis approved the payment for those whose annual income do not exceed $75,000. Couples could have a maximum income ceiling of $150,000 a year. 524,754 Maine residents are expected to receive payments of $285. They are being issued by the Department of Administrative and Financial Services (DAFS).

As an additional requirement, individuals who worked continuously in 2020 and filed a Maine individual income tax return for fiscal year 2020 no later than October 31, 2021, will be eligible, according to Mark.

Maryland was one of the most generous states in terms of coronavirus aid payments. In Maryland, families will receive their tax refunds with an increase for those who have two children and an annual income of $25,000.

The state awards a stimulus check between $300 and $500 for those who claim an earned income tax credit. In addition, about $700 million was set aside for farm workers and meat packers.
