The famous Irish singer Sinéad Marie Bernadette O’Connor, better known as Sinéad O’Connor, who rose to fame in the late eighties with the song “Nothing Compares 2 U,” announced the death of her 17-year-old son Shane who was missing since last Thursday.

According to the Daily Mail, Shane was one of the singer’s four children, including Jake Reynolds, Roisin Waters, and Yeshua Francis Neil Bonadio. It should be remembered that in 2017 Sinéad changed her name to Magda Davitt. A year later after converting to Islam, she became Shuhada Davitt.

“My beautiful son Nevi’im Nesta Ali Shane O’Connor, the very light of my life, decided to end his earthly struggle today and is now with God. May he rest in peace, and may no one follow his example. My baby i love you so much. Please be in peace,” Sinéad O’Connor twitted.

Just hours before this message the singer had shared the link to a Bob Marley theme song with the following words: “This is for my Shaney. Light of my life. The lamp of my soul. My blue-eyed baby. You will always be my light. We will always be together. No limit can separate us.”

As reported by the Daily Mail, the singer’s son disappeared earlier this week and was last seen in Tallaght, South Dublin on Friday. An appeal was made to find the young man. Reports from the police force confirmed that the search for Shane had been suspended.

“How could a 17-year-old traumatized youth on suicide watch at Lynn Ward of Tallaght Hospital disappear? The hospital of course so far refuses to take any responsibility. Did something happen to my son while they are on duty? Lawsuits,” Sinéad O’Connor wrote on her social media.

In another message, Sinéad O’Connor shared heartbreaking news: “I want to know why Lynn Ward at Taillight Hospital, who was supposed to have HCA supervising my son 24/7 was out of reach this morning when my son made two serious suicide attempts 7 days ago.”

Just in February of last year the singer asked her followers to pray for her son in a worrying message she shared on Twitter. Sinéad was married four times. After Shane was born she separated from her partner Donal Reynolds.

Before confirming her son’s death, Sinéad O’Connor had shared the following message: “Shane your life is precious. God did not carve that beautiful smile on your beautiful face for nothing. My world would collapse without you. You are my heart. Please don’t stop beating. Please don’t hurt yourself. Go to the Gardai (Irish police) and we will take you to the hospital.”

Along with a photograph of the young man the singer made a desperate plea: “This is a message for my son Shane. Shane it’s not funny any more all this going missing. You are scaring the crap out of me. Could you please do the right thing and present yourself at a Gardai station? If you are with Shane please call the Gardai for his safety.”

In 2003 at 37 Sinéad O’Connor was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Just six years ago the singer was saved by the police from a suicide attempt after posting a farewell message on her Facebook page in which she announced that she had overdosed. Months later she would try the same again.

“I know that I am one of the millions of people in the world who are exactly like me. Others do not necessarily have the resources that I have in the heart or in the purse. Mental illness is like drugs, it doesn’t care who you are,” she said in a video posted on her social media on August 3, 2017.
