Robert Jason García, after serving a sentence of several years in prison, has returned to jail accused of aggravated assault on his girlfriend. The Edinburg Police Department (EPD), in Texas, arrested Garcia after he attacked and kidnapped his girlfriend, keeping authorities in suspense.

García, 30, is already detained in the Hidalgo County prison, charged with the felony charges of aggravated assault with a firearm and assault of domestic violence, against his girlfriend in Edinburg in southeastern Texas and almost on the border with Mexico, after starring in a strange incident of domestic violence.

According to the legal documents of the case, consulted by MundoHispánico, is a confessed gang member of the Vallucos in the cities of the southeast of the state and who served a sentence in the Texas Criminal Justice System (TDCJ) on five counts of attempted capital murder against rival gang members.

The criminal story for which Robert Jason García returned to jail began to be written last Friday, August 6, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. when several EPD agents answered an emergency call that alerted them of an armed man in an apartment and who was beating his girlfriend.

To preserve the privacy of Robert Jason Garcia’s girlfriend, her name will not be revealed in this story. The arrest warrant against the man does not detail who called the emergency number where the confessed gang member was sheltered and who was terrorizing his partner.

After the call reached the emergency number, the EPD agents presented an apartment complex located at 500 Sugar Road, the name of the housing complex is not recorded in the documents, since one of the houses was allegedly an armed man with his girlfriend hostage.

However, EPD agents who arrived at the apartment where the captive woman was found later discovered that her boyfriend had moments when police sirens were heard. Although the agents who covered the emergency did not know at first that the man had already escaped and they maintained the operation for several hours.

On the afternoon of that Friday, Robert Jason García and his partner began to argue and she, scared, decided to go up to the second floor of the house to avoid the confrontation. However, the boy followed her and grabbed her with his neck to begin to choke her hard on the neck.

Robert Jason García was so annoyed and aggressive with his girlfriend that he suddenly took an electric drill that was in the house, when the girl had almost fainted from suffocation, and with that tool he began to cut her chest while punching her in the face repeatedly.

The girl testified that she felt so bad from the beating and suffocation that she felt her body slowly go numb as she stopped being able to breathe. When the girl was almost unconscious, her boyfriend Robert Jason García also tried to stab her with a knife and then vanished.

The case was so dramatic that Robert Jason Garcia’s own mother called the authorities in a panic to come to help her son’s girlfriend. When the patrols were heard in the distance, according to the victim’s testimony, her attacker took a semiautomatic rifle and escaped from the house before the police arrived.

However, the EPD agents who arrived at the home were unaware that Robert Jason Garcia had already escaped so they put a fence outside the apartment complex. For hours the policemen were outside the house until a couple of them entered the house armed and that was when they found the victim.

The two patrolmen who entered the house until 11:30 at night stated that when they found the victim the girl had deep wounds on the chest and severe bruising due to the multiple punches she received from her boyfriend Robert Jason Garcia before the EPD agents arrived.

When the EPD agents found the girl, they asked the paramedics of the Edinburg Fire Department (EFD) to take the girl to a hospital to be treated for her multiple injuries and for which still recovering.

The girl stated in her testimony that she was terrified by the constant attacks of her boyfriend Robert Jason García against her. A Hidalgo County judge granted the girl a restraining and restraining order against the boy so that he could not approach her.

After the girl offered her statement to the authorities and the doctors certified her injuries, the EPD issued an arrest warrant for aggravated assault with a firearm and domestic violence. Since Saturday morning, August 7, 2021, Robert Jason García became a fugitive in Hidalgo County.

Last Monday, August 9, 2021, in the morning, Robert Jason García himself walked into the EPD headquarters and said that he was the man they were looking for accused of having attacked his girlfriend. Agents detained him and he was taken to the Hidalgo County Jail to face legal process.

This is not the first time that Robert Jason Garcia has slept in the Hidalgo County Jail. According to the criminal records against García, they detail that he is a confessed member of the Vallucos as the members of the Texas Valley of the Hispanic gang Tango Blast identify themselves.

On December 8, 2010, the McAllen Police Department (MPD) detained Robert Jason Garcia after he had a collision with four members of a rival gang on South Bicentennial Boulevard whom he pursued in his car while shooting at them after meeting them at a local bar.

Almost a year later, on October 11, 2011, when the trial for the first shooting was still open, authorities re-arrested Robert Jason García after he again tried to shoot several members of a rival gang to death. For those two cases, García served a 10-year sentence in Texas. However, he has already been arrested again.

The attack by Robert Jason García is circumscribed within the pandemic of domestic violence suffered by many Hispanic women by their partners in the United States. According to the non-profit organization National Domestic Violence Hotline, one in four women in the United States suffers from an abusive relationship with her partner.

According to that same organization, every minute an average of 24 people, men and women, suffer some type of violence, rape, harassment and intimidation by their partners. That makes a total of 12 million people a year being victims of domestic violence, like the victim in the case against Robert Jason Garcia.
