Plane crashes near San Diego-area high school in California, destroying at least two houses that ended up in flames. Firefighters evacuate the injured, while residents of the area report large plumes of smoke.
This Monday afternoon, a plane crashed in a neighborhood in the city of Santee, very close to the grounds of a San Diego-area high school. They report that at least one building was completely destroyed after the aircraft fell.
Plane crashes near San Diego high school area
The Santee Fire Department evacuated the injured from the scene near Jeremy and Greencastle Street. At least two people were rushed to a nearby hospital due to their injuries, according to Fox 5 San Diego.
For its part, the San Diego Sheriff’s Department specified that the accident occurred in the 9900 block of North Magnolia Avenue. The school is at 9915 North Magnolia Avenue.
Great plumes of smoke from a distance
Santana High School reported through its twitter account that all his students were “safe” and that the accident from the plane that crashed to the ground occurred about “2 or 3 blocks away.”
The accident generated a strong smoke that the neighbors could see in the distance. In fact, citizens posted on social media the photos showing the dense black and gray smoke rising over Santee.
At least two houses were burned
The first emergency call occurred around 12:15 pm (local time). The Santee Fire Department confirmed that its personnel had transported two people to the hospital.
They have not yet offered official information, but it is known that the accident caused the fire of at least two houses that were destroyed. Local media indicated that several nearby structures appear to have suffered severe damage as a result of the flames.
Police ask to avoid the area
Police authorities have asked the community to move away from the area so that firefighters and rescuers can work. “If you live in @CiudadSantee, avoid the area near the 9900 block of N. Magnolia Avenue,” they wrote.
“@SanteeFire @SDSOSantee and other first responders are at the scene of a plane crash. This is a developing situation. We appreciate your patience and cooperation ”, they reported via Twitter.
SkyFOX managed to capture on video the work of the firefighters putting out the fire that caused the plane crash in two houses in the area. Heartland Fire Rescue reported that a third home was also partially damaged.
