More than 60 lawmakers are pushing for a fourth stimulus check as Americans continue to suffer the ravages of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Plan President Joe Biden’s Rescue America began sending the third round of payments of $ 1,400 two weeks ago to eligible taxpayers via direct deposit.

64 Washington lawmakers have expressed interest in having aid checks recurring until the pandemic ends, starting with a fourth stimulus check, even though many are still waiting for the third paper check. Newsweek.

In early March, a group of 11 progressive senators, including Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, urged President Biden to make stimulus payments and extended unemployment as a recurring thing during the next spending bill.

“We urge you to include recurring direct payments and automatic extensions of unemployment insurance linked to economic conditions in your Build Back Better long-term economic plan,” the senators wrote to the president. “This crisis is far from over and families deserve to be certain that they can put food on the table and have a roof over their heads. Families should not be at the mercy of ever-changing legislative deadlines, ”they stated.

This second stimulus package from Biden is still under discussion in the US Senate and it could take several weeks before an agreement is reached, as was the case with the recently approved US Rescue Plan. However, citizens are wondering, will this new plan include a fourth stimulus check?

Various legislators are inclined to continue helping citizens through direct payments that improve family finances, such as the $ 1,400 that is currently being distributed. Even the most liberal Democrats advocate making these payments consistent.

The reality is that, so far, there is no evidence that they are planning to include new stimulus checks as part of the second phase of President Biden’s economic plan, according to the NY Journal. This does not mean that it can change after negotiations by legislators.

So far, discussions on this new plan have been behind closed doors. What has been leaked to the media is that it does not include any point about a fourth stimulus check. Instead, the funds will go to infrastructure and renewable energy, such as roads, bridges, railways, charging of electric vehicles and cell phone networks.

According to the news agency The Associated Press, these investments would allow the government to stimulate the country’s economy through the development of renewable energies that promote a favorable change for the country, also through infrastructure projects.

That would not be all. Part of the $ 3 billion dollars of this new proposal would go to benefit community colleges across the country, as well as universal pre-kindergarten programs and provide funds for paid family leave.

Some more liberal Democrats, like Senator Bernie Sanders, insist on passing recurring aid. In fact, in March they sent a letter to Biden in which they promote not only a fourth check, but the possibility of establishing monthly payments to the neediest families.

“Recurring direct payments have broad support from both the general public and economics experts. Poll revealed that 65% of Americans support recurring payments, “says the text signed by 10 senators, including Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders.
