«Judge Clarence Thomas was admitted to Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC, on Friday night after experiencing flu-like symptoms,» the Supreme Court said in a statement posted on its official website and reviewed by Mundo Hispánico.

The Supreme Court explained that the judge was undergoing tests and that he was diagnosed with an infection. They did not say what type of infection, but they did give details of what kind of treatment the justice was receiving. He is hospitalized at Sibley Memorial in Washington.

«He underwent tests, was diagnosed with an infection and is being treated with intravenous antibiotics,» the Supreme Court said in the short statement. In addition, on Sunday afternoon they an update about the status of  Justice Clarence Thomas.

Clarence Thomas’s current condition

«His symptoms are abating, he is resting comfortably and awaiting discharge from the hospital,» the Supreme Court said in a statement. According to their information, Justice Thomas is expected to be discharged in one or two days.

On his role on the highest court in the United States, the Court assured that: “Judge Thomas will participate in the consideration and discussion of any cases for which he is not present on the basis of the briefs, transcripts, and audio of oral arguments.”

Thomas will not be present in the Supreme Court

According to ABC, Justice Clarence Thomas has no history of health problems. The nine judges that make up the Supreme Court of the United States have been vaccinated and have received booster doses of the Covid vaccine.
