After the tragedy, the mayor of Ciales, Alexander Burgos Otero, expressed sadness over the event and made a plea through Primera Hora to people who practice extreme sports: “This is something new, something new that is happening in our municipality. I know that extreme sports are practiced, but parachuting is something new.” In turn, he added: “Ciales lends itself to these places, since everywhere we go we see beautiful views. We urge the public that if they practice or are fans of this sport to do so prudently and seek guidance from trained people.” In this sense, he emphasized that these activities must be carried out with experts and, “duly planned and organized.”

Ernesto Díaz, instructor and founder of the Skydive Puerto Rico skydiving school, told El Nuevo Día: “She is a friend. She is a paratrooper, mother, adventurer, clothing designer. A brave woman. The only woman who did BASE in Puerto Rico and had an unfortunate incident. Everyone who enters that sport, all of them, know that they may have to deal with that situation. They are aware that there is a possibility that they will die if it is not done correctly.”
