Very few knew. A few months after the tenth anniversary Jenni Rivera’s death, a revealing interview resurfaces where Chiquis reveals that, in addition to her father, a woman abused her. Her fans immediately expressed their support.
In this talk with Karla Martinez for Despierta América (video available on Univisión’s official Youtube channel), the singer did not hesitate to open her heart and share a little of what she included in her book Perdón, which she wrote “not to clear up misunderstandings, but to share something much more important and valuable.”
Chiquis relives a painful time in her life
First, Chiquis Rivera, who in recent days has been promoting her new album, Abeja Reina, was asked how she found out about her mother’s death. Jenni Rivera tragically lost her life in a plane crash on December 9, 2012 after giving a concert in Monterrey, Nuevo León.
“I was in Las Vegas and I felt something that night. I went to Las Vegas because my cousin was getting married and I also explain that in more detail in the book, but it was a very difficult night. I was with some friends and I felt something, but I went to the hotel room better and I couldn’t sleep and I received messages and I didn’t answer, I didn’t even want to look at the phone. And when my cousin Karina spoke to me, that’s when she told me: ‘You have to see Twitter because they are saying certain things.’”
Chiquis and Jenni Rivera were fighting before Jenni’s death
“At that moment (when the death of La Diva de la Banda was confirmed) is where the word ‘sorry’ comes in, because I was very upset with the world, with God, I couldn’t believe it. From Las Vegas to my grandmother’s house, which takes about four hours, I felt like it was an eternity to get there and I told God that he couldn’t do this to me,” said Chiquis.
The singer, who remained calm at all times, revealed that she never thought that her mother would not return. In addition to this tragic event, Chiquis told in her book about the sexual abuse she suffered at the hands of her own father, Trino Marín. She also revealed that she was abuse by a woman, something very few people knew.
“It was very difficult for me”
Chiquis confessed that she questioned several times whether or not to talk about the sexual abuse she suffered, and decided to do so because it is also part of her life: “I can’t feel ashamed of that and I told myself that I had to tell it, more than anything, because I want to help other girls or even boys who are going through that.”
“My responsibility is to be able to help as much as I can and that is why I wanted to write the book, that is why I shared so many things, that great secret, that not even my mother knew. I did not know how to tell her, but I think it is important that one has to speak and I have that responsibility. If God has given us this place, my mother had always told me, it is to be able to help others,” said Jenni Rivera’s daughter.
Why were Chiquis and Jenni fighting?
And about why Chiquis and Jenni were fighting, Chiquis wanted to make it clear that it had nothing to do with Jenni Rivera’s divorce from Esteban Loaiza, as many people assumed: “In the book I do tell what happened, It was not one thing, there were many things, I also had a lot of guilt and I also shared it.”
“There is a video, but not what was said in the media, my aunt Rosie has that video, she has it on a USB, and when I saw it, I asked where this gossip came from, but nothing to do with what what was said, not at all,” concluded the singer. (TO SEE THE VIDEO CLICK HERE)
