- Officials will send HUGE checks, that could reach the generous sum of $5,200, to some families in the United States.
- They have also approved other local aid in states such as Colorado and New York as a way to financially support their residents.
- Checks for up to $2,000 for eligible adults and up to $600 for each child may be issued.
Officials will send HUGE checks, that could be as much as $5,200 dollars, to some families in the US. However, that’s not all … other states like Colorado and New York have also approved local aid as a way to financially support their residents.
Although the US economy has been recovering, the Omicron variant has put a negative spin on that progress. So cities and states around the U.S. continue to approve and hand out more checks to their hardest hit residents.
HUGE checks for $5,200 dollars to be sent out in the US
Such is the case with checks for up to $2,000 for eligible adults and up to $600 for each child that were approved in the Navajo Nation. Which means that a family of four (two adults and two children) could soon receive a check for $5,200. The Navajo Nation is the largest Native American reservation in the United States.
On December 29, the Navajo council voted in favor of stimulus checks and Jonathan Nez, president of the Navajo Nation, gave the go-ahead for more than 345,000 payments to be awarded to his tribe members to help them get through the economic difficulties imposed by the pandemic.
Money for Native Americans
Their official statement reads: “the 24th Navajo Nation Council passed Emergency Legislation No. 0263-21 with an amendment allocating $557,000,000 million of Navajo Nation Fiscal Recovery Funds (NNFRF) to send a second hardship assistance check for over 345,000 qualified Navajo people.”
“A second allocation of hardship assistance payments of $2,000 per adult and $600 per child will allow our relatives to purchase essential winter supplies like gasoline, firewood, and food now,” added Council Delegate Amber Kanazbah Crotty.
Help for children too
With this legislation, the Navajo council also approved the provision of, “$600 in hardship assistance to minors below 18 years old.” However, this assistance will be limited to only 95,000 qualified youth. The goal is for them to be able to use these funds to, “pay utility bills, for rental and mortgage payments, and any educational related expenses for students.”
“We must have compassion in our hearts and listen directly to the people who need immediate help. We have taken action now in the best interest of our grandmas, grandpas, our single parents, and our students who need support,” said council president Eugenia Charles-Newton.
Funds for the Navajo Nation
“Our intention is to provide direct relief to all families so they can simply pay for their water and electric bills, buy groceries, car payments, hay for livestock and more,” explained Charles-Newton about the help they approved for Native American families.
The Navajo Nation occupies about 71,000 square kilometers stretching across northeastern Arizona, southeastern Utah, and northwestern New Mexico, making it the largest Native American tribe territory. The Navajo Nation is home to about 350,000 Native Americans according to the 2016 census.
Stimulus Checks in Colorado
While it is true that the checks approved in the Navajo Nation are really generous, there is also other aid in other states and cities in the United States that will be an enormous help to residents. The state of Colorado is a perfect example, The Sun pointed out.
Officials in Colorado approved checks for $375 for those residents who received at least one unemployment check between March 15, 2020 and October 24, 2020. Although there is a limitation, because those who have received more than $500 in weekly unemployment payments are not eligible.
Stimulus checks in New York
In New York they have decided to help the state’s tourism sector. In November 2021, Governor Kathy Hochul announced a new fund through which they will deliver one-time checks for $2,750 to workers in the tourism industry. The aid from the Tourism Workers Recovery Fund is aimed at 36,000 employees in that sector.
To receive this help, people don’t have to submit an application. The New York State Department of Labor has been communicating via text message or email with eligible workers to indicate the next steps.
Will there be a fourth stimulus check?
The United States economy had been recovering quickly after the severe blow from the pandemic, but the new Omicron variant has put authorities on alert. The World Health Organization has already classified it as a Covid-19 variant of very high global risk. Now, will a fourth stimulus check be approved?
Jerome Powell, chairman of the Federal Reserve, warned the US Senate that this could shake the economy. “The recent increase in COVID-19 cases and the emergence of the Omicron variant pose downside risks to employment and economic activity and greater uncertainty about inflation. Increased concern about the virus could reduce people’s willingness to work in person, slowing progress in the job market and intensifying supply chain disruptions.” Filed Under: They will send HUGE checks for $ 5,200 dollars in the US.
