Did you know that 70% of homes in the United States have mold and mildew? And not only that, about 30% of the population is genetically predisposed to suffer from problems related to both, which makes the elimination of these a priority. Although there are many ways to get rid of mold and mildew, both indoors and outdoors, there are some natural options that can be implemented to maintain a safe and clean home.

Vinegar

White vinegar is an ingredient that will help you deep clean the surfaces of your home to get rid of practically all mold and mildew accumulated by moisture. One of the main advantages of vinegar is that it has the ability to kill up to 80% of all species of fungi. You just have to spray it on the surface you want to disinfect and let it dry naturally.

Essential oils are a great natural remedy for preventing mold and grime from appearing on surfaces in your home. Some like tea tree oil, have the added benefit of repelling spiders. All you need to do is carefully mix a tablespoon of tea tree oil with a cup of water and spray it on the area that is moldy, or that you want to keep free of fungus. Finally, let it dry for an hour and then clean with a dry cloth.

Grapefruit seed extract

Grapefruit seed extract will be one of your best allies to get rid of all the mold and fungus accumulated at home. Thanks to a component known as limonoids which help kill bacteria. The advantage of using grapefruit seed extract is that, in addition to sterilizing the area where it is applied, its acids will act progressively to prevent the growth of new spores.

Along with white vinegar, baking soda is an effective remedy for cleaning and eliminating both bacteria and odors caused by humidity inside a house. It is enough to mix equal portions of baking soda and water to obtain a mixture whose consistency is pasty. With the help of a brush, it is applied to remove stains on walls and floors. Allow it to dry naturally to prevent the growth of more bacteria.

Lemon juice

Some mixtures, such as those made with baking soda or vinegar, may leave behind temporary odors, but this is not the case when using lemon juice for a deep clean. Cleaning experts recommend diluting at least 20 drops of juice or lemon in two cups of water. Spray the mixture where the mold stains are and let it dry naturally.

Hydrogen peroxide

If you wish, you can use simple hydrogen peroxide or combine it with other ingredients to ensure greater effectiveness in cases where mold is more prevalent. Spray a little hydrogen peroxide on the surface affected by mold and mildew and let it sit for at least ten minutes. Once this process is finished, wipe with a dry cloth to remove accumulated stains.
