- “From there, the problems in the Rivera family began, since we decided to take Jenni by carriage to the airport,” said the music producer.
It still hurts. Almost ten years after her death, which occurred on December 9, 2012 after giving a concert in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico, Juan Rivera reveals how the body of his sister Jenni Rivera was transferred from Monterrey to California.
It was through his Youtube channel that the music producer shared his testimony on video, where he said that “from there the problems in the Rivera family began, since we decided to transfer Jenni by carriage to the airport“.
Juan Rivera reveals how was the transfer of the body of his sister Jenni
Moved, the music producer describes this experience as something that, “unfortunately, he will never forget”: “I saw things that the mind will never be able to erase, that are recorded there forever, that will never go away and that were captured in your mind, in your heart and in your eyes you can still see them ”.
Juan Rivera says that, in the morgue, it was where the first family lawsuit began, since he and Gustavo wanted to see the remains of Jenni Rivera, to which Lupillo was against, but he wanted to be one hundred percent sure that it was his sister.
“I wanted to be sure it was my sister”: Juan Rivera
Visibly affected when remembering this sad episode, Juan Rivera commented that after this discussion, Lupillo raised his voice to Gustavo, who is ten years older than El Toro del Corrido: “Things were altered a little and we had better get out of the office ( the morgue)”.
“We wanted to calm the situation, Understandable by both parties, Lupe has always wanted to keep the memory of Jenni as ‘Jenni’, he did not want that image to be erased from his mind with another image and Gustavo and I wanted to be one hundred percent sure which was Jenni, ”shared the music producer.
The music producer says that, due to mistrust, they were not going to accept the DNA results
A little calmer, and outlining a slight smile, Juan Rivera recalled that neither he nor his brothers trusted the DNA results that would confirm that the remains found were those of his sister Jenni Rivera. There would be more to tell.
“It’s difficult, but I think Jenni would have done the same for me. Sometimes you have to sacrifice part of yourself for the being you love, but you do it because you love him. It was very hard for Gustavo. Jenni and I had a very cool relationship, but I imagine Gustavo feels with Jenni the way I feel with Rosie, she’s my little sister ”.
Jenni Rivera’s remains were delivered to a funeral home
The Rivera brothers made the decision to deliver the singer’s remains to a funeral home. Coincidentally, the owner of that place was Lupillo Rivera’s manager. The next day, they would return to California with the remains of La Diva de la Banda.
“We went that night to dinner at a restaurant and we talked like brothers. In the therapy that I have taken, they have told me that I have never faced ‘that’ of my sister, and that is why since she left, I lost myself at work ”, shared Juan Rivera.
Doesn’t he get over his death?
The music producer commented that he recently made a trip with his wife to Denver, where he saw an image that said ‘broken chain’, which speaks precisely of a person who left this world, someone who ‘got ahead’.
This same image says that, after the death of a person, the family chain is broken and will continue like this until all the members of the family see each other again in heaven, something that, he confesses, hurts Juan Rivera a lot.
Juan Rivera reveals that in Monterrey the family relationship began to break
“In Monterrey things happened that unleashed the family, many things,” said Juan Rivera, who recalled that after the dinner he had with his brothers they went to sleep and agreed to go early the next day for the remains of Jenni Rivera.
“They got us a private jet. We wanted to evade the media in every possible way. We went to the funeral home, we did not tell anyone which funeral home was where my sister was, and I told my brothers that this was our sister and that no one should carry her body more than us. “
“We put Jenni’s body on a float”
Next, the music producer recalled that they raised Jenni Rivera’s body to a float and asked permission from the people at the funeral home to ‘walk’ the singer for the last time on the land that last saw her alive.
“We gave him a tour of Monterrey and there came the second family problem, since Lupe was supposed to drive first and then Gustavo, I really didn’t want to. The three in front of the float and my sister in the back ”. After asking about the location of the airport, they decided to take ‘several laps’.
The float was soon identified
The music producer recalled that Lupillo Rivera was driving very slowly, so a few minutes later, various media ‘hit them’ and began to record and take pictures. There began one more discussion.
“How would the media find out? I don’t know, and I said to Lupe: ‘if you don’t speed him up, get on the edge and get off of this, I’m not going to be part of this’ and that’s where the second family problem came. We arrived at the airport, we put my sister’s remains on the plane ”.
Arrival in California
Almost to finish this video, Juan Rivera commented that he is very aware that a helicopter was flying over the plane in which they arrived with the remains of Jenni Rivera at the Long Beach, California airport, to record some images.
“It was a private hangar, they let them put the car inside and we went to my mother’s house, but first we went to the funeral home. It was so difficult to get to my mom’s house and see the reactions. I dare say that there is no other family that has experienced this ”.
Hard blow for the Rivera family
“Selena was murdered, but back then there was no social media. Today something happens and immediately it is all over the world. We had to face that and it was extremely difficult. All the media and hundreds, if not thousands of people, waiting outside my mother’s house, ”said Juan Rivera.
Finally, he shared that all this situation that the Rivera family experienced was not easy: “It does not matter how long since that day … your pain remains and is evident”, “It is very painful what happened with Jenni”, “I admire the strength they have ”,“ How difficult it must be to relive this and talk about it ”, some people expressed (TO SEE THE VIDEO CLICK HERE).
