Session suspended due to ‘risk’

The House of Representatives was scheduled to conclude its work for the week tomorrow, so that once today’s session ends, congressmen will be able to leave Washington for their states, Efe indicates.

Democrats have not wanted to put legislators, their advisers and congressional staff at risk after the alert from the Capitol Police about a possible new assault on Thursday.

They report a possible ‘plan of attack’

In a statement, that body indicated that it had obtained intelligence information that “shows a possible plot by an identified militia to break into the Capitol on Thursday, March 4.”

“We have already made significant security updates that include the establishment of a physical structure and an increase in staff to ensure the protection of Congress, the public and our police officers,” the note reads. The Capitol Police added that they take this intelligence information very seriously and collaborate with their partners at the local, state and federal levels to stop any threat against the headquarters of the country’s Congress.

Will they attack the Capitol ‘again’?

The Senate, for its part, has not yet ruled on its activity tomorrow, when legislators were scheduled to debate the $ 1.9 trillion economic bailout promoted by the White House.

According to the television network CNNInformation provided by the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security warns that the debate has increased among extremist groups, such as the far-right organization “Three Percenters”, about a possible plan to attack the Capitol on March 4.

The followers of the QAnon movement believe that former President Donald Trump will be invested again on March 4, based on the fact that between 1793 and 1933 the investiture of the leaders fell on that date, Efe points out.

US intelligence agencies have detected a possible plot to take the Capitol by storm again in Washington, the police force in charge of protecting the building reported on Wednesday.

The new threat was revealed nearly two months after thousands of fans of then-President Donald Trump stormed the Capitol.

So far, some 300 people have been accused of participating in that ‘insurrection’. Five people, including a Capitol Police officer, were killed, the AP says.

The notice, in a statement from the Capitol Police, came at the same time that the acting director of that security force was testifying before a legislative subcommittee.
