Ruthless murder devastates a Hispanic family. Authorities continue to search for suspects after a 14-year-old Hispanic teenager was shot dead at point-blank range just so thieves could steal his shoes, People reported.

On Friday, May 6, Axel Turcios was in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the Westchase area of ​​Houston, Texas, around 8:10 p.m. when two men approached him. The suspects later allegedly shot the teen at point-blank range at the complex in the 9500 block of Ella Lee Lane before stealing his shoes, police said.

Houston police responded to a call about a shooting. When the officers arrived at the scene, they found Turcios lying on the ground, barefoot and with a gunshot wound to the back. According to a witness, the suspects shot the Hispanic youth and then fled in a Chrylser PT Cruiser.

When the witness approached, Axel Turcios told him that the attackers were trying to take off his shoes just before shooting him, reported Houston Chronicle citing the police.

Although the police are still searching for the two suspects who took Axel Turcios’s life, authorities indicated that they are looking for two Latino men who were allegedly seen fleeing the crime scene in a dark car.

“Two Hispanic men approached him. It is not known if he was shot by one or both assailants,” Houston police said in a statement. “It appears something was stolen from him before running away,” police added.

Axel was a student at Lamar High School. The school district shared a statement with KHOU: “HISD is grieving the loss of one of its students, who passed away this past weekend. We send our deepest condolences to his family, his friends and our entire community.”

Also, a former classmate from school created a GoFundMe campaign to help the family with the funeral expenses for the young student. “We are devastated by his loss and would like to bring the community together to help the family with one less burden. Axel was lost due to a senseless crime. We ask for anything to support this hard working family. May God grant them peace!” Olga Catoni wrote.
