HELPING MIGRANTS? After the US shortage of baby formula made headlines various officials have complained about the actions of President Joe Biden and the current administration. This time Greg Abbott condemned the fact that the administration has been providing baby formula to undocumented immigrants in detention centers.

The Governor of Texas has expressed — once again — his dissatisfaction with immigrants and declared that Biden should only be worried about the needs of United States citizens. The Biden administration spoke to the press and outlined steps they were taking to address the shortage.

The Governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, and the president of the Border Patrol Council, Brandon Judd complained that the Biden administration is supplying baby formula to undocumented immigrants in the midst of a national shortage of the product, according to the EFE agency.

In the new statements, Abbott didn’t hesitate to express his dissatisfaction with Biden’s “actions”. For its part, the White House spoke to the press about the ongoing shortage and emphasized that they are looking for solutions to prevent the problem from continuing.

A Priority?

In Abbott and Judd’s remarks, they noted that Texan children should be the top officials’ priority and indicated that they deserve to be put first instead of helping the undocumented in the country. The Governor of Texas reported that millions of parents have expressed their distress at the national shortage of baby formula.

“Children are our most vulnerable, precious Texans and deserve to be put first. Yet, President Biden has turned a blind eye to parents across America who are facing the nightmare of a nationwide baby formula shortage,” Abbott and Judd said in a joint statement released by the Republican governor’s office and reported by EFE. The statement was issued on the same day that President Biden spoke with some of the major domestic manufacturers of infant formula, pressing them to increase their production and announcing that he will import greater quantities of this product due to the unprecedented shortage, reported EFE.

“This is yet another one in a long line of reckless, out-of-touch priorities from the Biden Administration when it comes to securing our border and protecting Americans. Our children deserve a president who puts their needs and survival first — not one who gives critical supplies to illegal immigrants before the people he took an oath to serve,” Abbott’s statement continues.  Filed Under: Governor Texas Formula Babies

What does Biden say?

The criticism issued by Abbott and Judd is not the only statement on the subject Thursday afternoon. President Biden pointed out that he was “pressuring” infant formula factories to increase their production, and announced that he will import larger amounts of this product in the face of unprecedented shortages in his country, EFE noted.

The president spoke with the executive directors of the Mead Johnson and Gerber companies, which produce infant formula, and with the Walmart and Target retail chains, the White House reported in a background press call published on the official website. In addition, they added possible solutions to the problem that is developing. Filed Under: Governor Texas Formula Babies

The transcript of a call with officials seeking a solution to the problems that arose after the shortage of infant formula in the country was released. In addition, they pointed out what steps should be taken to solve the problem, one example was providing flexibility to the WIC program.

“the President today also announced several additional steps to get more infant formula onto store shelves as quickly as possible without compromising safety. Both steps include, first, cutting red tape to get more infant formula on the shelves by encouraging states to provide flexibility to the WIC program, which may be a key driver of some supply disruptions,” the White House said.

In recent weeks, finding formula for babies has been a challenge for parents across the country, an issue that has become a point of contention between Republicans and Democrats and that has led the federal government to take action, EFE said. For this reason, they indicated the new measures that they will carry out based on talks with the main exporters.

“Second, call on the FTC and state attorneys general to crack down on price gouging and unfair market practices related to infant formula sales, such as third-party sellers reselling infant formula at high margins; and third, to increase the supply of infant formula by increasing imports,” the call highlighted.
