Gabriel Vilorio Jáquez was arrested in Arizona, by federal agents who were looking for him after two homicides were committed in New Jersey. Agents from the US Marshals, who specialize in capturing dangerous criminals and fugitives, captured Vilorio Jáquez after weeks of investigation to find the violent murderer.

The fugitive and alleged murderer Gabriel B. Vilorio Jáquez was captured by the US Marshals outside an apartment building in Tucson, Arizona, on November 19, when he went out to walk his dog in the neighborhood. Federal agents had been covertly monitoring the fugitive for several days.

Gabriel Vilorio Jáquez, 33, had an arrest warrant in the Mercer County in New Jersey and is accused of having shot his landlord Everth Barrera, 56, and his friend Obdulio Gómez Interiano, 41, in a crime that occurred last Friday, October 29, in the city of Trenton.

The detainee Gabriel Vilorio Jáquez is being detained in the Pima County prison waiting for a criminal judge to authorize his transfer to Mercer County in New Jersey to face justice for the murder of Everth Barrera and Obdulio Gómez Interiano after a confrontation between the owner of the house and his tenant.

According to the arrest warrant against Gabriel Vilorio Jáquez, consulted by Mundo Hispánico, on Friday, October 29 at 9:30 AM, the ‘Shot Spotter’ system, which alerts authorities when shots are fired, activated its alarms on Cleveland Avenue in Trenton, New Jersey.

The ‘Shot Spotter’ is a system of hypersensitive microphones placed in a network next to the public light poles that are calibrated to identify the noise of any firearm when discharged. The ‘Shot Spotter’ alarms immediately alert authorities when gunshots are detected.

When the ‘Shot Spotter’ alarm was activated on Cleveland Avenue in Trenton, New Jersey, several patrol cars from the Trenton Police Department (TPD) were sent to the area in which the gunfire was heard.

On the sidewalk outside a home, TPD agents found two Hispanic men badly wounded by gunshots. The police determined that one of the men was Everth Barrera. They were able to identify him through his credentials. He was already dead at the scene due to the bullet wounds he received.

The agents identified the second man as Obdulio Gómez Interiano, also using his identification. He was very badly injured but still alive. Paramedics immediately transferred Gómez Interiano to a hospital in the area to be treated.

However, although doctors fought to save Obdulio Gómez Interiano’s life, the man died in the hospital emergency room. Then the Homicide Division of the TPD officers joined the case. The name of Gabriel B. Vilorio Jáquez still did not come up during the detectives’ initial investigation.

Detective J. Menafra, of the Mercer County Homicide Task Force in New Jersey, took the lead in the investigation joined by a group of officers from different departments who collaborated to solve the shootings of Everth Barrera and Obdulio Gomez Interiano.

During the initial investigation, the team of officers commanded by J. Menafra discovered that the victims were two kind men, who never had problems with anyone. A revealing detail was uncovered when detectives discovered that Everth Barrera was the owner of the house he was killed in front of.

Detectives were interested in knowing who the tenant of the Everth Barrera property was and that was when they learned that a young man named Gabriel B. Vilorio Jáquez lived there. The officers searched the place for Vilorio Jáquez but he had already left the house, leaving everything intact.

According to witnesses to the incident who Mercer County Homicide Task Force officers were able to interview, moments before Gabriel B. Vilorio Jáquez shot Everth Barrera and Obdulio Gómez Interiano, the three men had gotten into a violent argument.

The documents in the case against Gabriel B. Vilorio Jáquez do not detail the reason why he argued with his landlord Everth Barrera and Edwin Obdulio Gómez Interiano, just outside the house he rented in Trenton, New Jersey.

The non-profit organization National Archive of Gun Violence reports that so far in 2021, 39,865 people have already been shot dead.

As of Sunday, November 14, 2o21, of those people who have been shot dead in the United States, a total of 18,415 were murdered and 21,450 committed suicide. 36,419 people have been injured. The country has already experienced 636 mass shootings, in which at least four people died in the same event.
