Are you trying to figure out how to get some extra savings this December? Well, if you are a beneficiary of food stamps, this information will be very valuable to you. The Sun states that people who receive money from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), traditionally known as food stamps, can take advantage of additional discounts that could put more money in their pockets.

Beneficiaries are also receiving extra money from SNAP, which provides nutritional benefits to low-income individuals and families to help supplement their food budget so they can buy healthy meals.

SNAP is a federal program, but each state manages the claimants’ benefits, so the food stamps must be requested in the state in which the people reside. And you have to meet certain requirements to get them, such as income and resource limits.

Anyone thinking of applying to the federal food program can contact their Local SNAP office  for more information. People who receive food stamps could benefit from obtaining greater savings through coupons.

Additional benefits of food stamps

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), which administers the SNAP program, began providing more money in October 2021. The additional funding is part of the ongoing relief due to the coronavirus pandemic, The Sun explained.

The cost adjustment represents the first time the plan has changed since it was introduced in 1975. The average SNAP benefit increased by $36.24 per person, per month. Amounts may vary depending on the state where the beneficiary applies.

The Sun reported that Amazon offers a $5.99 per month Amazon Prime membership for customers who receive Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) or Medicaid, the federal and state health insurance program for low-income individuals.

According to The Sun, they will ask you for verification. The regular cost of a Prime membership is $12.99 per month, plus tax. So subscribing in this way means a saving of seven dollars a month that will remain in your pocket. The Amazon Prime plan includes access to streaming content and free two-day shipping.

Daily discounts thanks to food stamps

The YMCA often offers discounts to low-income individuals and families. If you qualify for food stamps, you may also qualify for a discounted membership. Such discounts, The Sun explained, can be applied to programs like youth sports, babysitting and camps.

During any period of your membership, you may be asked to provide proof of income to keep your special rate. Also, if you’re looking for an activity, museums across the country offer discounts for people who receive SNAP or food stamp benefits. Most venues only require you to show your card to enjoy the discounts, or in some cases, even free admission.

Starting next week, some lucky Californians will be receiving a surprise stimulus check. Around 20,000 cash-strapped households will receive a stimulus of up to $300 on December 4, The Sun reported.

The $300 aid is aimed at low-income people in the poorest districts of Santa Ana, California. According to a statement issued by Santa Ana, this program is funded by the American Rescue Act. This was enacted by President Biden last March. To qualify for the new $300 check, districts must have poverty rates above Santa Ana’s 42% median.

But what does this new check consist of?

Residents of Santa Ana will receive a $300 prepaid Visa debit card. As part of the Revive Santa Ana Resident Stimulus Program, a total of $6 million in payments will go to the city’s poor neighborhoods that were most affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

In a statement issued November 16, city officials confirmed that lawmakers had approved the extra money that will be delivered through prepaid and door-to-door cards beginning December 4, according to The Orange County Register.

According to The Sun, the money from the $300 check can be used in stores nationwide where they accept visa card payments. Mayor Vicente Sarmiento said that, “the COVID-19 pandemic has had a disproportionate impact on the inhabitants of Santa Ana, especially those who live in high-poverty neighborhoods with overcrowded living conditions.

Sarmiento added that, “the Resident Stimulus Program will help families recover from the economic effects of the pandemic and, at the same time, return money to our local economy.” Councilor David Penaloza said that the aid, “will be very much needed in the coming months.”

The city of Santa Ana stated that on Saturday, December 4, prepaid Visa debit cards will be delivered to qualifying households. “The Resident Stimulus Program will help families recover from the economic effects of the pandemic and, at the same time, return money to our local economy,” the statement reads.

The city has not released more information on how payments can be requested. However, it said it will distribute the cards “door to door” to rental units. “If the staff cannot reach a head of household at an address, they will contact them to arrange the delivery at a later date,” he said.

Surprise stimulus checks of $ 2,000 and $ 1,000 will be sent in the next few days

More checks on the way! Several US states plan to help its residents financially with cash bonuses ranging from $500 to $2,000 as part of their state economic recovery programs for the Covid-19 pandemic.

The move comes months after the latest round of stimulus from President Biden’s American Rescue Plan and as millions continue to push for a fourth check, The Sun reported.

Who will receive the surprise checks?

The surprise checks will be sent to specific residents who meet certain eligibility rules in various states around the country. Below, we will explain what those states are and how much money qualified people can expect depending on where they reside.

For example, New Hampshire residents may qualify for a check for $1,086 if their household consists of a family of three and they currently have no income. Also, those who live in Arizona and are unemployed can take advantage of the state’s return-to-work program. Those who start working part-time are eligible to receive a check for $1,000. Those who return to work full-time could be paid $2,000. For more information read this article.
