Ernest Cardona Jr., a father and grandfather, was shot to death in Bryan, Texas, after an intruder entered his home at dawn. The Bryan Police Department (BPD) has already arrested the young Clifford Dewayne Salter as allegedly responsible for the murder of Cardona Jr.

Cardona Jr., 43, confronted Salter, 22, for breaking into his home and the boy pulled out a gun with which he fired multiple shots while escaping from his victim’s home. According to the BPD, so far it is not clear what the motive for the crime was. What the agents do know is that the victim and the perpetrator knew each other.

According to the documents of the case, consulted by MundoHispánico, on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at 5:20 a.m. Ernest Cardona Jr. woke up because he heard a great commotion in his house from someone who just broke the door or a door of his home at 300 East Ennis Street in the southeastern Bryan, Texas metropolitan area.

Cardona Jr., amid the commotion, received a call from a neighbor to ask if she was okay because the noise had awakened other residents on the same street. Cardona Jr. told him that it seemed someone had entered his house and he needed to go check what was going on.

The neighbor’s testimony was the key to solving the murder of Ernest Cardona Jr. because just after the man cut off the call to go check what was happening, several shots were heard that rang out in the middle of the morning in that Bryan neighborhood. .

When the neighbor ran out of his house, he caught sight of an African-American man escaping from Ernest Cardona Jr.’s house and immediately ran into the house, just to see his neighbor and friend die. The shots alerted other residents of the same street who called the emergency number to report the shooting.

The city of Bryan, Texas, is a town located in what is called the Hill Country in the state and is north of the College Station metropolitan area. At noon on the same Wednesday, April 28, 2021, agents of the BPD Homicide Division issued an arrest warrant against Clifford Dewayne Salter on the charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against Ernest Cardona Jr. when attacking him. to bullets and which caused his death. It is not detailed why the man was not charged with murder.

The man’s favorite sport was boxing and he encouraged his two sons to practice it as a way to stay healthy.
