SAN DIEGO (AP) – Yu Darvish struck out 10 in seven brilliant innings, doubled and scored a run, while Manny Machado hit a two-run homer for the San Diego Padres, who beat the Colorado Rockies 7-0 for their fourth straight win on Monday. The Padres are 6-1 since last Tuesday, when star shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. tested positive for the coronavirus before a game in Colorado, and right fielder Wil Myers and first baseman Eric Hosmer were removed from the game. Myers tested positive, while Hosmer was put in the contact tracing protocol.
Darvish (4-1) held Colorado to just four hits and didn’t walk a batter. Only two Rockies reached second base, including Garretth Hampson on a two-out double in the second. Jon Gray bore defeat. For the Rockies, the Dominican Raimel Tapia scored 4-0. Venezuelan Yonathan Daza 3-0. For the Padres, Jurickson Profar from Curaçao 4-2 with two runs scored. The Dominican Jorge Mateo 1-1.
