Mexico exceeds 880,000 cases and 88,000 deaths from covid-19

The authorities of the Ministry of Health of Mexico reported this Friday of an accumulated of 880,775 cases and 88,312 deaths from covid-19 by adding 6,604 infections and 418 deaths in the last 24 hours.

The accumulated cases in the day had a percentage increase of 0.74% and the deaths of 0.47%, compared to the statistics of the report of the previous day (874,171 cases and 87,894 deaths), the authorities indicated.

When presenting the daily national balance of the pandemic, the director of Epidemiology of Mexico, José Luis Alomía, pointed out that 2,269,833 patients have been studied, 97% by means of a laboratory test since the declaration of the pandemic on February 28.

The group of patients studied is classified by the health authorities as positive cases (880,775), those with a negative result (1,058,102) and those that continue as suspects (330,956).

Suspected cases are classified into 179,514 that do not have a sample or that never reached the laboratory, 95,644 in which there is no possibility of knowing if they had the infection and 55,798 in which a result is expected.

Regarding the projections of the pandemic, considering the confirmed infections plus a percentage of the suspects, they point out that in the country there are 1,023,297 estimated cases, among which 51,532 would be active, representing 5% of the total.
