However, shortly after arriving at the emergency room, the young Christopher Víctor Romero could no longer survive his injuries and died while the doctors kept him in surgery. When Romero was declared officially dead, the case was then turned over to detectives from the TPD Homicide Division.

The agents of the TPD Homicide Division discovered that, moments before the shooting, Christopher Víctor Romero had had a tough confrontation with another boy whom some witnesses identified as Salvador Ricardo Blancas. The latter had drawn a pistol and discharged it against his rival in front of several witnesses.

Salvador Ricardo Blancas, after unloading his weapon against Christopher Víctor Romero, escaped from the lot where the shooting took place without any of the witnesses being able or daring to stop him since he was still carrying the gun. The agents could not get any witnesses to tell them what the reason for the confrontation had been.

Based on the statements of the witnesses, the agents of the Homicide Division of the TPD issued last Thursday, August 12, 2021 an arrest warrant against Salvador Ricardo Blancas as allegedly responsible for the murder of his rival Christopher Víctor Romero.

The story took a turn on the afternoon of the same Thursday, August 12, when Salvador Ricardo Blancas himself appeared at the headquarters of the Marana Police Department (MPD), also in Arizona, and told guard officers that they were looking for him in Tucson for the murder of Christopher Víctor Romero.

The town of Marana is a small town in the northeast of the Tucson metropolitan area on I-10 and heading to California. The surprised MPD agents at the confession of Salvador Ricardo Blancas called their TPD colleagues to find out if what he was saying was true.

When the agents of the TPD Homicide Division learned that the alleged murderer Salvador Ricardo Blancas had turned himself in in the town of Marana, they went for him to question him, detain him, and then take him to the Pima County jail in Tucson.

However, the case has become entangled because Salvador Ricardo Blancas despite having turned himself in for being the alleged murderer of Christopher Víctor Romero has decided to avail himself of his right not to declare anything before the authorities until he has a lawyer to represent him. Because of that, the motive for the crime is still a mystery.
