A young man who resides in California, United States, disappeared in Mexico after traveling to the Aztec country to visit his sister and enjoy a vacation, various media in both nations reported.

Authorities began an urgent search after a young man from Northern California disappeared while on vacation in Mexico, the newspaper Newsweek reported this Monday morning.

The young man, identified as Manuel Reyes, 19, traveled from his home in Hayward, Alameda County, California, to Lagos de Moreno, in Jalisco, Mexico, in early April to visit his sister, the aforementioned media said.

But, Manuel Reyes and his friend Jesús ‘Jessy’ Ramón Corona, 36, disappeared after going out on a motorcycle to buy some tacos in the San Miguel area around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 2.

Citing the local media Cuadrante7, the Newsweek report indicated that since they went to eat nothing has been heard from Manuel Reyes or Jesús Corona, so the authorities are already looking for them.

Norma, Manuel Reyes’ sister, had sent him a message on WhatsApp and he told her that he was eating tacos at a restaurant located on Orozco y Jiménez boulevard, the Newsweek review detailed.

She told Cuadrante7 that when it was 4:00 in the morning and she realized that he had not arrived yet, she sent a message to her brother and also to Jessy, but when she noticed that they were not being received, she decided to dial them, but the phones were turned off.

“Worried from early on, I looked for family and friends and no one knew anything,” Normal told the aforementioned media, which specified that nothing has been heard from any of them since 11:30 p.m. that day.

A sister of Jesús Corona, identified as Leslie Abril, mentioned that the two had been with her at her house around 10:30 p.m. Sunday before going out to look for the tacos in whose business they were last seen.

She also told Cuadrante7 that the two were last seen around 2.00 in the morning on May 3 at the taco place ‘El Ahijado’. And in front of the relatives, they said goodbye around 10:30 on Sunday.

For his part, Jesús was described as a 5-foot-7-inch tall man with light brown complexion and wearing jeans, a pink shirt, blue Nike shoes, and wearing a gold bracelet with the name “Ramón” on his right arm.
