Brian Laundrie, person of interest in the murder of youtuber Gabby Petito, was being ‘watched’ by the police and yet he disappeared even before they could talk to him about the death of his fiancée.

The case was just beginning on September 11, the day Gabby’s family reported her as missing. By then officers visited the home of Brian Laundrie’s parents, but were unable to see or speak to him.

Josh Taylor, a police spokesman, told CNN that agents from North Port, Florida, watched Laundrie as best they could legally before the man disappeared. He was “being watched before he disappeared,” he said.

The problem was that at that time the authorities had nothing against him, the police did not have an arrest warrant for any crime and they had not yet found Gabby Petito’s body.

Laundrie had returned home to Florida on Sept. 1 from a road trip with his fiancee Gabby Petito, but she was absent. No one has seen the subject again since September 13.

Chris and Roberta, Brian Laundrie’s parents, told police they had last seen their son on September 14. Although they later corrected the date and assured that they had not seen him since September 13 when he would have disappeared in Carlton Reserve. Laundrie’s parents ended up formally reporting him missing on September 17.

Evan Donovan, a reporter for WFLA News, said that at a press conference on Sept. 16, a reporter asked the North Port Police Chief if they knew where Brian Laundrie was, to which he replied “Yes.”

The next day Laundrie’s family reported that their son had been missing for several days. Still, authorities said they did “everything possible” to keep Laundrie under surveillance before he disappeared.

Gabby Petito’s body was found in a camp near Grand Teton National Park on September 19. Forensics performed an autopsy that confirmed it was her and that it was a homicide, but they have not revealed the cause of death.

Last Tuesday, Dr. Michael Baden, a renowned forensic pathologist, told Fox News that hiding the cause of Petito’s death was something “unusual” and that it seemed that the detectives were missing some information. For now, the FBI, in charge of the case, has decided to withhold the results of the autopsy.

For now, Brian Laundrie, 23, remains a fugitive from justice and although he has not yet been charged for the murder of Gabby Petito, he is wanted for allegedly using Petito’s bank card in Wyoming in late August. detailed NY Post.

Laundrie and Petito decided to venture four months around the country by van. They had already been on the road for about two months, when suddenly Laundrie returned home to Florida. The man arrived in his truck on September 1, but Petito was not there.
