Abandoned baby border. McAllen Border Patrol (CBP) agents discovered an abandoned one-year-old baby along with a group of 18 undocumented immigrants in the desert from Hidalgo, Texas.

During the arrest, agents tried to identify all the detainees who had entered the United States illegally, however, no one claimed the little girl, CBP reported in a Press release.

The unaccompanied minor was from El Salvador and carried with her a handwritten note with her name and contact information for various members of her family.

In addition, agents indicated that the girl’s jacket had an aunt’s contact information written on the lining, as well as a US phone number written on the upper part of her leg.

According to the immigration authorities, the girl’s aunt was contacted and she told them that she did not know the current whereabouts of the mother, in the same way, she indicated that she did not know why her niece was there.

CBP medical staff evaluated the minor for any medical need before transferring her to a Border Patrol station. According to immigration authorities, the Border Patrol processed the girl.

CBP has implemented multiple campaigns to prevent illegal human trafficking where it encourages people to report suspicious activity in order to save lives. “They are human, not cargo!” Wrote CBP.

A similar case occurred earlier this week when Border Patrol agents discovered a group of undocumented immigrants including a 4-year-old boy traveling alone.

The arrest occurred on Nov. 16 in the same desert of Hidalgo. CBP agents found 36 undocumented aliens. The group consisted of several family members and unaccompanied minors. The 4-year-old boy carried a handwritten note with the contact information of a parent in the United States.
