  • In an unusual way, the three young men will face their process as adult criminals, since the authorities consider that they acted with premeditation and calculation when committing the crime.
  • The victim was young Isaac Rosales, 16, who was shot dead outside his home

Three Hispanic teenagers from Arizona will be tried as adults for being the alleged murderers of Isaac Rosales.

Rosales, 16, was shot to death after a confrontation

outside his home, according to reports Pinal County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) in Big house, Arizona.

The detainees are Genaro Acosta, 16; his brother Emilio Acosta, 14 years old and Benjamín Villa, 15 years old. The three boys are already in the Jail of the Pinal County together with inmates of legal age.

Unusually, the three minors will face charges as adults by the PCSO, because according to their arrest warrant they acted in full awareness of what they were doing when they killed Rosales.

In the United States, by law, the identity of persons under 18 years of age who commit crimes cannot be disclosed. Unless there is an element in the crime that forces the authorities to treat them as adults.

According to the PCSO, the three boys will be treated and tried as adults, charged with first degree murder, because they planned the murder of Rosales.

The accusation against the three boys made by the PCSO Homicide Division states that by planning the murder they lost their right to be considered minor offenders.

It is very rare that a crime committed by minors, whatever the nature of it, leads the authorities to change the legal situation of detainees.

The tragedy, for both the victim’s family and those arrested, occurred in the small town of Stanfield, Arizona, on I-8, which has no more than a thousand inhabitants and almost all are Hispanic.

According to the case documents, consulted by MundoHispánicoOn Tuesday, September 1, PCSO agents received a call to appear in the remote town of Stanfield, Arizona, for a report of multiple shootings.

From the city of Casa Grande, 20 miles away, several patrols left for the western desert to attend to the emergency report at 12:01 p.m. in Stanfield.

In a house on North Baylor Way, the report documents do not specify the number, the agents found a boy wounded by several gunshots on the sidewalk.

Thanks to his relatives, the young man was identified as Isaac Rosales, a high school student at the only school in town.

Due to the seriousness of his injuries, the boy was transported to a hospital in the town of Casa Grande to be treated.

However, shortly after arriving, Isaac Rosales died in the emergency room when doctors tried to save his life.

What started as a firearm assault investigation turned into a homicide case. The wounds with which Rosales was killed, according to authorities, were made at close range.

Then the agents of the PCSO Homicide Division arrived at the scene to begin the investigations, in a death that shook the just under 1,000 residents of Stanfield, Arizona.

According to witnesses, neighbors and relatives, Robles was outside his home when other boys approached him and began to argue.

The discussion grew heated with shouts and insults and at one point, it turned into a fist fight between the three boys and Robles.

To settle the matter, one of the newcomers drew a gun and fired several shots at Robles. They then got into a car and fled the scene.

When the witnesses testified before the officers of the PCSO Homicide Division, there were testimonies found, which made the investigation difficult.

Neighbors said the alleged boys who attacked Robles were African-American and some were Hispanic. Other witnesses assured that they were Hispanic and African American.

Another point was that the witnesses assured that there were two shooters and others maintained that it was actually only one, but that he fired several times.

Officers even revealed a spoken portrait of the boy who had shot Robles, hoping someone would recognize him and give a clue that could stop him.

Finally, someone called the Homicide Division officers and told them who the boy they were looking for was. He also informed them who the other two were involved in the death of Isaac Rosales.

Based on this first information, the agents of the Homicide Division investigated the three boys and arrested them on Wednesday, September 9, accusing them of first degree murder against Rosales.

When the officers and the Pinal County Prosecutor’s Office learned the details of the case, in which the boys allegedly committed the crime with premeditation and calculation, they decided to treat them as adult criminals.

The judge handling the case accepted the accusations against the three young people, who will face their legal process as adult inmates among criminals of legal age.

So far the motive for the crime is not listed in the arrest warrants.

According to Arizona State Penal Code murder in the first degree, committed by a minor, is punishable by death for whoever is found guilty of that crime after facing trial.

It is also not known until now which of the three boys fired the gun against Isaac Rosales.
