The new operating system, iOS 16, will refresh the look of your device’s lock screen and make some minor improvements to the current software. Software updates have become increasingly important in recent years as iPhone owners have started to keep their existing devices for longer periods of time than before, the AP said.

The new software will also allow the lock screen to display live notifications, such as the status of an Uber ride. Other authorized notifications will appear from the bottom of the screen, instead of the current layout that shows them at the top, in an effort to avoid screen clutter.
