Mexican Televisa actor Octavio Ocaña died at 22, he was famous for playing the character Benito in the series “Vecinos” as a child. His demise occurred when he was traveling in a van in the municipality of Cuautitlán Izcalli, and he is said to have died from a gunshot, according to the El Universal news agency and the site Excelsior.

The Attorney General’s Office of the State of Mexico is investigating the causes of the actor’s death. He was allegedly traveling in a van with two companions when the events occurred. According to sources close to the investigation, the young man along with two other people were driving along the Chamapa-Lechería highway in the direction of the municipality of Atizapán.

HOW DID THE EVENTS HAPPEN?

At one point, municipal police officers stopped them because they appeared to be driving while intoxicated. In their attempt to flee, they collided with a passing vehicle, injuring the driver and one of the passengers.

According to the investigations, a gun was fired inside the vehicle, although the reason why the weapon, which according to reports, belonged to the victim, was discharged are unknown so far. The truck he was driving crashed into a wall on the side of the road, at the height of the Lago de Guadalupe.

In the early hours of Saturday, the two people accompanying him gave their statements to the Public Ministry to determine the reason why the gun was fired and who, if anyone, was responsible for the death. On behalf of the cast and crew of «Vecinos,» its producer Elías Solorio was the first to confirm the death of the actor via his Twitter account.

«I cannot believe it. Rest in peace, my dear Octavio. You leave all of us who knew you very sad. Have a good trip, Benito,” he wrote in the early hours of Saturday. Given the facts, many people on social media suspect that the firearm was ‘planted’ and demand an investigation into the police officials who participated in the arrest.
